In Being You

Could you not?
If you overcome,
could you, without
before?
Inference?
From where?

Every change,
each decide
comes from then,
from them.
Because of right
or seemed
at the time.

Is anything
possible
without them?
Back then
or even
today?
How many stir
your thinking?

Being Open

She could stay
all the day
at the window.
Off warm breezes
the scents of the sea
caught her longings.
Each to her ears
pause and fantasy.
“Out there,” they said.

Her skin felt
the soft fingers
of the dreams
left for her finding.
Eyes, closed or open,
saw more on the horizon.
Calling in whispers,
promising everything.

Poppy Seed

She couldn’t remember,
was she dreaming now?
Or then, or of then?
She couldn’t remember.
Falling, to sleep true
or into the arms
of Hypnos.

He’d been one of those
that attended her wishing.
So long ago now.
Always the quiet one.
Or perhaps his son?
Teling her his tales,
making his illusions.

When she thought of time,
her lips were drawn.
The deception of seems
could always be real.
Illusions inside
of illusions.
Such is.

Looking Both Ways

Love those mornings
that bedclothes feel like
soft puffy clouds on a
nowhere to be day.
Sinking into the
dawn’s caress.

Tempted to stay
temptation to off,
choosing day dreams,
soft breezes, stray thoughts.
Collapsed into a sigh,
weightless.

No clocks tick.
Time has no purpose,
lies in waiting outside
or inside I suppose.
After all only you
can say.

Good Days

She was up before dawn.
Just had to go out.
Autumn had promised
to be there today.

Slipped on her coat,
the one that she loved.
The one she’d waited
all summer to put on.

Unsettled birds
had impatient calls.
Quick flights away,
barely looked back.

There was a cool,
just, different from
yesterdays breeze.
Touched her cheeks.

Breathing deep, she
knew in an instant,
this was that day,
and the sun rose.

Off the Wall

There he was again.
Insisting I look.
Holding open the folds,
shadow legions slipping,
in and out of focus.
Staring, threatening,
or threatened.
Hard to tell.

Into Myth

They’d had their
heads together,
through the evening.
Backs arched,
forward leaned,
two old c***s,
eye to eye.

Round the bar,
every patron
kept a close
watch on them,
thinking about
the cover they’d
be running to.

There was a sigh
round the room
when they stood up.
Felt like a legend
walked into the night.
Seemed obvious
they’d not be back.

Repose

I’ve seen
enough today.
My thoughts
strung out so far.
Even watching it
catch up with me
is so exhausting.
Maybe if I’m
still enough
it might pause
and wait.

Time to Tarry

Ideas dart.
You almost see
before they slip
off to play.
Deeper, always
deeper every day.

Suggestions of
what might be.
At first shadows.
Then perhaps,
any guess
to be.

Quest or Rest

I’ve heard it said
to be nirvana,
clearing your mind.

In talking to myself
we can’t decide if
we might try that,
after having thought
of everything.

Quite daunting,
all the possibles.
Just can allow
too much time
for emptiness.

I’ve heard it said,
but I’ve looked
a while now.
Have never found
an empty corner.
