I N S T A L L A T I O N with Travis & Cheryl from Visual Spectrums x Public Space One✨

View the collab in “It’s Touching: Art You Can Feel” starting tomorrow at 10 a.m.

The Visual Spectrums Collaborative Arts Project is a group of artists, community member, and art appreciators of all kinds of visual abilities working together to create an inclusive arts exhibit that explore how people with diverse visual experiences might embrace the seeing arts.

Inspired by her personal journey with vision loss, Iowa writer, Jocelyn Engman joined Iowa artist, Cheryl Weatherford to found Visual Spectrums.

Support is provided by the Big Field Fund, a program of PS1. Funding provided by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.

We are thrilled to collaborate with our friends at the Historic Preservation Commission & the UNI Rod Library on this event🫶

Looking forward to seeing you all on June 17! Presentation at 5:30 p.m., City Hall; Walking Tour at 6 p.m., Overman Park!

Enjoy a walking tour and discussion with the Historic Preservation Commission on Wednesday, June 17! The event kicks off with a presentation from the Commission at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. The discussion will include conversation on a potential demolition policy and seeking consensus about nomination of two potential districts on the National Register of Historic Places.

💚 Following the presentation, the community is invited to enjoy a walking tour of the Overman Park area at 6:00 p.m. Attendees can meet at the City Hall main entrance. The tour will include education about historic homes and locations, as well as information on the history of the area.

🛍️Following the tour, the Commission invites attendees to enjoy the Cedar Falls Downtown District Night Market, which will be held until 9:00 p.m. in the Downtown District!

Our good friend & Thursday Painter, Kim Behm, is back tomorrow with a "Survey of the Arts of Asia" on Wednesdays, June 3-24 from 10:00 a.m.-noon. Give us a call to register at 319-273-8641!

This lecture style course will focus on the Arts of India and South Asia, China and Japan from early history to the present. Since much of the subject is related to and inspired by Eastern Religions, those philosophies will be considered. We will also consider political and economic conditions as they relate to the rest of the world. A variety of examples will be discussed in context.

Fee: Free with Friends of the Hearst membership

Join us under the stars tonight for the kickoff of our 2nd Annual Hearst Outdoor Film Screenings in the sculpture garden. We are screening a classic, The Neverending Story (1984, PG) at 8:45 p.m. BYO blanket, chair, snacks, and beverages. Fun for all ages, free & open to all!

Our FAV time of year! Summer Camps for ages 5-12 kicks off next week. This year's theme—The Art of Storytelling! WE CAN'T WAIT🙌🔥Registration is open online via https://bit.ly/HearstRegister!

Join us for a week-long camp of storytelling through the arts. We will explore different illustrational approaches as we imagine our own fantasy worlds, creatures, and heroes. Participants will make their vision come to life across a wide array of mediums while learning about all the ways that art can be used to tell a story.
*Families register for only one of the six sessions offered.

Session 1: June 8-12
Session 2: June 22-26
Session 3: July 6-10
Session 4: July 13-17
Session 5: July 27-31
Session 6: August 3-7

Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Fee: $190/week per person (Friends Member $170)
Before & After Care: 8:00 a.m. and/or 5:00 p.m. for an additional $10/day
