I thought more time would mean more art. It didn’t.

I used to think discipline alone would make me an artist. Last year proved me wrong. This year, I’m learning to quit scolding myself, to honor the hidden work of loving people, and to paint from generosity instead of striving.

The studio will never be the whole story—just the glimpse that makes it to the surface. And maybe that’s enough.

I haven’t yet named this piece but am working o that now. Something about home, of course, since that is what every piece I make seems to be about. Returning home - to a place we have never actually been but is written on our hearts. Hey, is that it? Maybe I just solved my own riddle while punching at these keys. Ladies and gentlemen, may I present:

“Dreaming of Trees”
12 x 12
Oil on Canvas

• This piece is a part of a developing series I am currently working on called “Open Horizons” (that is at least what I have been calling it in my mind).
• Title inspired by the poem “A Dream of Trees” by Mary Oliver, which beautifully summarizes my headspace over the last year.
• I would sincerely love to hear your thoughts (not just asking for the IG machine)

I’m thinking it’s time to make some more of these beautiful floater frame landscapes… maybe in time for Mother’s Day or graduation? What do you think?

In my exploration of landscapes, I’ve discovered a steady rhythm—a calling to capture the places that hold our stories. Each piece I create is more than just a painting of a pretty scene; it’s an invitation to remember moments where alchemy and magic occurred within us.

Recently, I was asked to paint a place that means a lot to my collector—a landscape that represents her feeling of salvation. This piece isn’t just a reminder of a location; it’s a visual touchstone for her heart, a way to reconnect with the transformation she experienced.

As time goes on and seasons change, I hope this painting helps her recall that feeling of renewal. Here’s to finding our own places of revelation and the art that brings us back to them. 🌿💖

Here’s a commission painting inspired by the quiet magic of a North Carolina sound. The natural world surrounding us isn’t just a backdrop; it’s a living tapestry woven with memories, a place where the heart finds its rhythm. It’s not merely about creating something beautiful; it’s about capturing the essence of stillness that whispers to us, inviting us to pause and remember what truly ignites our spirits. May this piece serve as a gentle reminder of the places that hold stories.

I love seeing how the work of my imagination, heart, and hands can be folded so beautifully into the lives and onto the walls of those who cherish it enough to invest in my art. What a privilege and gift to offer something of myself and for it to be received.
