Yesterday, I overheard someone say that if miracles happened all of the time, they would lose their wonder and become commonplace. The true essence of a miracle lies in its ability to disrupt the natural order of things. When I consider what seems ordinary and expected in my life, I am reminded of the sheer miraculousness of my existence alone, not to mention the abundance of beauty, connection, and depth that fills my days. We all possess the power to shape our own perspective and set our sights on the extraordinary. May I be one who embarks on each day with the belief that miracles surround me, embracing the adventure, beauty, and divine interruptions that await on each day’s journey! Especially on the days of great disappointment, the shadow days following prayers unanswered and hoped for miracles unresolved. Those are the days that the practice of wonder protect our hearts from bitterness and keep our eyes fixed for the embers of the next burning bush. And in case you can’t read my chicken scratch, here is the quote again: “Earth’s crammed with heaven,And every common bush afire with God,But only he who sees takes off his shoes; The rest sit round and pluck blackberries.”― Elizabeth Barrett Browning#awakeningwonder #creativeprocess #doitfortheprocess #everydaymiracles #creativelifestyle

I have been loving the slow and dreamy journey into the world of oil painting. This piece began with a trip to nearby lake and it was so good for my heart to sit for an extended time and observe the calm water and surrounding plant life around me. Let me know what you think of this piece in a comment below. 😊“Sound Mind”Oil on Panel9 x 12
• My name is Jessie. I am a 38 year old artist.I am building a life alongside my husband, Daniel, as we raise our three young(ish) children. • I love god, people, and purpose. My work, both the mundane and the creative, are rooted in a value for those things. • My goal is to be a person of presence - in the here and now with my full heart and attention. I want to be simultaneously curious and anchored, full of wonder and full of depth. • I am learning how to develop as a painter and a storyteller. I greatly appreciate you joining me as I continue to share about the process and the results of the journey.
