The Edge 166 Artspace

The Edge 166 Artspace The Edge 166 Artspace is a gallery and theater-style meeting facility devoted to trending visual arts exhibits and presentations. Sunny Raschke, curator.

Carl Raschke, communications. The Edge 166 is the visual arts side of Theatre 166, a black box theatre designed to focus on the artists and the story their music has to tell, surrounded by their audience. The Edge 166 is an affiliate and partner of The Global Art & Ideas Nexus, whose mission and purpose is "to take innovative thought and artistic expression public." GAIN is a global aggregator and

site of creative connectivity and collaboration for colleges and universities, community-based art and ideas projects, artists, performers, writers, digital designers, independent scholars, public intellectuals, and other affiliated professionals and entrepreneurs. Theatre 166, as a performance facility, creates a blank canvas for not only music of all genres — but a variety of stage productions and artistic shows from dance, to theatre troops, to children’s theatre, to spoken word, to stand-up comedy, to illusionists, and more in an intimate unforgetable setting. The interaction this sparks between the audience and performers generates high-creative-energy and priceless experiences for fans of all ages. The theatre is a total immersive high-definition experience. Special attention was paid to the acoustic design not only to control sound but also to help create a warm and unique look to the room. The low frequency response is very well controlled yet sounds natural and yields a tight responsiveness for bass and kick drum. Every artist that performs at Theatre166 say it’s one of the best ‘listening rooms’ they have ever played! Visual artists interested in showing should send an inquiry to [email protected]. Performers or community groups should contact Theatre 166 directly

The Edge 166 Artspace @ Theatre 166 is sadly no more, mainly because its sponsoring organization Theatre 166 is closing for good as of June 1 for financial reasons. It is sad to realize that a beautiful facility with state-of-the-art black box technology can't continue asit has, largely because of soaring commercial rents in the DFW area. But that's the world we live in. We want to thank everyone who contributed to our 15-month run of exciting events, including gallery exhibitions and performance art. But we are hoping to redistribute the spirit and the cameraderie of the space to different smaller groups with whom we are connected and are bringing the visual arts to life. The success of the "Diamonds Beneath the Coal" art showing (we might call it a salon) last night in Grapevine, made up largely of people who met through The Edge 166, was a great start. In the meantime, keep in touch with us through the Global Arts & Ideas Network, which along with Crosspointe Church helped bring The Edge 166 into existence in early 2015.
