Happy Illinois Statehood Day! in 1818 Illinois became the 21st state in the union. To commemorate the day we’re sharing this object from our history collections: the first federal printing of the Illinois State Constitution, printed in Washington D.C. just two weeks before Illinois officially became a state.

🎁 The Season of Giving Begins!

The Carol Stream Police Department Social Services Unit is kicking off the 48th Annual Christmas Sharing Program, helping neighbors in need this holiday season.

This November, residents experiencing financial hardship can register for the program, and anyone can donate gifts or essentials to support local families.

May the legacy and history of St. Luke never be forgotten…

It's Friday and time for the Friday photo!
Today's photo is of the construction of St. Luke Catholic Church in 1960.
St. Luke began as a mission of St. Isidore.
Construction began in 1959.
The school opened in September of 1960.
The church opened in December of 1960.
St. Luke became a parish in 1963.
The school closed in 1971.
St. Luke will close on July 1, 2025.

Several members of our Carol Stream Historical Society attended the Park District’s tree dedication to Barb O’Rahilly. It was wonderful to be amongst her family and friends honoring such a fantastic citizen of our community. Thank you, Sue Rini of the Park District for today!
