2027 marks the 50th anniversary of the Caroga Museum. Over the years the museum has been dedicated to the residents of Caroga, past and present. The Sherman’s amusement park carousel has been central to the life of Caroga since the early 1930s.
In honor of the anniversary, the museum is planning an exhibit next year celebrating this. Negotiations are currently underway to acquire an original hand carved Looff horse from the Sherman’s carousel to be a center piece of the exhibit. We want to include the Caroga community past and present in this celebration. We are asking residents to share their photographs of the carousel, both past and present. While we are interested in early color photographs showing the color of the original horses, black and white photos are useful in identifying other horses. We also want to have photos of residents enjoying the carousel. So many family memories center around the carousel. The museum wants to celebrate that as part of its 50th anniversary.
