THE “CARNE-GEESE” HAVE INVADED MINIATURE MAIN STREET! Our very creative new youth volunteer, 13-year-old Brayden Gump used a 3D printer to create a dozen miniature geese which he and his volunteer sister, 12-year-old Brynlee, positioned around our magic little model town to better reflect our current real-world relationship with our feathered associates,. You’ll have to stop in and see. Too much fun!

This has been the mission of the Historical Society of Carnegie for the past thirty-five years. We are an all-volunteer organization and our involvement in our colorful and storied community continues.

Members have access to our ancestry research capacity and our extensive community files including families, businesses, churches, schools, yearbooks, politics, entertainment, sports, railroads, mills and mines, floods and fires. Observe and join in the preservation efforts of donated historical acquisitions and much more.

The Historical Society of Carnegie is a parent organization with four key permanent exhibits and features, many fascinating displays and presentations:
1. THE HONUS WAGNER MUSEUM is dedicated to the Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer, “The Flying Dutchman”. This enhanced exhibit includes unique photo-ops with game-played memorabilia and free souvenirs. It has been featured on ESPN, the Pirates Sports Network, and KDKA’s “Fan-Nation.”
2. THE COLONEL ROBERT R. SAWHILL JR. CENTER OF CARNEGIE MILITARY HERITAGE honors former Viet Nam POW Colonel Sawhill and highlights local examples of the rich and honored military history of the residents of Carnegie. The Center is affiliated with Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and the Veterans Breakfast Club.
3. “MINIATURE MAIN STREET-CARNEGIE REMEMBERED”, is a 75-foot, hand-crafted wooden diorama of Carnegie’s business district in the ‘40s and ‘50s built over a ten-year period for Carnegie’s 100th anniversary in 1994. It is ranked highly among diorama and train modelers visiting Pittsburgh to see similar year-round exhibits. Recent enhancements showcase special interior and exterior lighting that makes the exhibit more charming than ever.
4. THE JAMES SORBARA CARNEGIE SPORTS EXHIBIT featuring former Harlem Globetrotter Robert Henry Aston. The concept drawings for this future exhibit honoring local sports figures were unveiled at the Historical Society’s 35th Anniversary Celebration in August 2025.
