Happy Birthday Bridget “Biddy” Mason! Born a slave in 1818 with no formal education, she was able to secure her family’s freedom through a court case when her master moved to California (which was admitted to the Union as a free state). After spending a decade saving her money, Biddy used her business smarts to buy and sell land at a great profit. She became known as Grandma Mason for her philanthropic work and charitable donations.

I'd really like to speak with someone familiar with the history of the adobe and surrounding areas, especially in the timeframe of 1895 to 1910. My family lived in Escondido and had connections to the Kelly Ranch during that time frame. Thank you.
