On Saturday we were privileged to have Ron Hahs read the Declaration of Independence and discuss the 57 men who had the courage to sign this and gain our country’s freedom. We are forever grateful.

We are open tomorrow and celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Stop by the Museum for a free flag.
We wish everyone a safe, Fourth of July

Saturday morning Joyce Macke & Rachel Morgan-Theall stopped by to show our guest how to use a spinning wheel. This was part of our Celebrate 250. During the American Revolution, the colonist were heavily taxed on fabric and clothing that was imported from England. Our early settlers begin spinning, weaving cloth and making their own clothing as a protest to this tax.
The Cape Girardeau Heritage Museum has several spinning wheels on display. Stop by Thursday, Friday or Saturday noon -4 to see these.
We will be open the 4th of July. Stop by and get a free flag.
