In our Carpenter's Shop (1806), surrounded by broom corn, wooden tools, and views of the Village, the historic Shaker broom shop is the perfect location to craft both a “hawk tail” and a “turkey wing” style broom. You’ll leave this workshop with two completed hand brooms and all tools and materials will be provided.

You may have heard of this workshop watching recent NH Chronicle episodes, with hosts Erin Fehlau and Sean McDonald! If so, you would have met the illustrious Dick Bennett, the workshop leader, as well as museum interpreter and craft demonstrator, who has been connected to the Village since 2004.

His depth of knowledge, steady hand, and booming charisma will guide you through a gorgeous fall morning of specialty crafts and Shaker history.

Meet the Monitor with The Concord Monitor on Thurs. Oct 22 at Canterbury Shaker Village!

We are excited to host this event and invite the Canterbury/Loudon community to join us at 6pm to explore how the Concord Monitor aims to remain a trusted source of news and information for the community in an ever shifting era of media and information.

Meet your local reporter and coverage team for the area from the Monitor, learn how they report on the news they see in the community, and ask face-to-face questions you have on their process or coverage of your community.

We think it's an incredible opportunity to engage with your local news team and let them hear from the community on how they might improve, in order to remain a beacon of in-depth, truthful information, and more connected to the people and communities they are indebted to serve.

Fall Foliage Report | 10.2.26

Foliage season is starting to get vivid here at the Village!

Our trees are starting to light up in airy yellow's and deep red's, peachy bursts of color, and magnificent swirls of caramel orange's percolating amongst the green.

A red maple, on the southside of the Meeting House lawn, closest to the building, might be the first tree to completely turn at Canterbury Shaker Village!

Flip through our pictures to see what different parts of the Village and trails are looking like, with another report later in October. Follow our Facebook and Instagram posts and stories for foliage updates!

It's lovely time to plan a trip out to the Village, with Daily Tours and Admission providing access to an incredible campus of buildings, gardens, and greens. Our nature trails are also open and free to all, dusk to dawn.

Lots of great places and times of day to see the colors change at Canterbury Shaker Village!
