The museum and history center will be open again at normal hours on Wednesday September 8, 2026 at 10:00am.

Hop on your bike and discover a different side of Cañon City’s history. As we ride through a local residential neighborhood, we’ll explore the people, places, and everyday stories that shaped the community.

This program is free and open to the public, welcoming both residents and visitors. Participants must be at least 12 years of age, provide their own bicycle and safety equipment, and be able to bike a/o stand for 1.5 hours.

Note: We will be riding along roadways.

We have been looking at the radar for later this afternoon and early evening. It looks like we are going to get some thunderstorms rolling in right in the middle of our tour. Just to be on the safe side, we have decided to reschedule the bike tour to this coming Saturday, July 25th at 8:30am.

All participants who have registered already won’t have to register again. You can just arrive at the location provided in the confirmation email at the new day and time.

Boots, Brands & Beginnings:

Celebrate Colorado’s Pioneer Spirit for Colorado Day by stepping back in time at the Royal Gorge Regional Museum & History Center on Saturday, August 1.

Hosted by the Royal Gorge Regional Museum & History Center and the Friends of the Museum, this free fun, family-friendly event brings Colorado's pioneer heritage to life with hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and historic experiences. The celebration also takes place alongside the Farmers Market and Historic Trolley Tours at Depot Park, making it a great day to explore and learn about the early days of Cañon City.

Event highlights include:
• 11:00 a.m. – "State Branding History" Presentation exploring the history and importance of livestock brands in Colorado. Presented by Colorado Brand Commissioner Todd Inglee.
• Roping and branding activities on the museum lawn throughout the day.
• Historic cabin open house where visitors can experience pioneer life firsthand.
• Weaving and Spinning demonstrations throughout the day.
• And Civil War Reenactors.

Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking for a unique way to celebrate our true pioneer spirit this Colorado Day offers something for all ages.
