Community Coffee & Conversation

Thursday, June 25th, 9:00am

This month’s Community Coffee and Conversation topic is: Independence Day
As the United States approaches its semiquincentennial (250th anniversary), we want to hear about how your family has celebrated Independence Day over the years.
Do you have memories of specific 4th of July events, or activities that have taken place in our community throughout the decades? Local or family traditions you would like to share? Please feel free to bring stories, photographs, and personal memorabilia highlighting how the local community has celebrated Independence Day through the years. Together, let’s capture the living history of our community as we approach this monumental national anniversary.
Community members are welcome to actively share or simply listen.
This event is free and open to the public. Coffee and donuts will be provided. No registration is required, simply join us in person at the museum, 612 Royal Gorge Blvd., on June 25th at 9:00 AM and enjoy a morning of storytelling and conversation.
The Museum and History Center’s normal business hours are Wednesday-Saturday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. For more information, please reach us at: (719) 269-9036 or email [email protected].

Hike with a Paleontologist
Saturday, June 6th 9:00am-11:30am

Love hiking and curious about local paleontology? This event is for you!

Join the Royal Gorge Regional Museum & History Center for a “Hike with a Paleontologist” as we head into the field with guest expert Lucas Hoff. As a hydrologist and professor of geology and paleontology, Lucas brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to this unique experience.

The hike will include stops along the trail where participants will learn about aspects of this area’s fascinating paleontological history.

This moderately challenging hike covers approximately 2.5 miles and includes some elevation gain, as well as sections of steep and uneven terrain. The hike is estimated to last 2.5 hours. Participants should bring their own water, snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing and footwear.

This is free and open to the public, ages 12 and up. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and space is limited.
Exact meeting location and additional event details will be provided after registration.
