The other weekly newspaper was the Canby Press. It was merged onto the Canby News on Auguat 1, 1932. The Canby News-Press had the largest circulation of any weekly newspaper in western Minnesota at that time.

Trivia answer from May 25 paper.
The first commander of the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) on May 5, 1868, declared May 30 “as the day upon which Americans now pay tribute to all their war casualties, missing-in-action, and deceased veterans.” This was to honor those soldiers lost in the Civil War. The G.A.R. was an organization similar to today’s VFW. Many people called Memorial Day “Decoration Day”, including my Dad.
