Van Alstyne Homestead Society of Canajoharie The Van Alstyne Homestead Society is volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the building and collections of the c. 1730 Van Alstyne homestead.

Open every Saturday - Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend, from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Admission for guided tours: adults - $5.00 per person, and $3.00 for children 5-10 years of age. Memberships are available at $25 per year, with special members' programs and privileges.

We hope everyone continues celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Revolutionary War, and the Bicentennial of the Erie Canal this summer.
The VAH is open every Saturday from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend.

The VAH will be celebrating Juneteenth for the 5th year on Thursday, June 19th, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The guest lecturers will be presenting on abolitionists, the Underground Railroad, and Union soldiers. The first presentation will be presented by VAH President Terry McMaster and will be about the Union soldiers from Cherry Valley, NY that served during the Civil War at Gettysburg, PA. Our Keynote speaker, Montgomery County Historian, Kelly Y. Farquhar will present on the importance of the Underground Railroad on the emancipation of slavery. Her presentation will focus on the Underground Railroad in Canajoharie, NY, and the homes used by the abolitionists that aided the freedom seekers (slaves) in their quest for freedom. Admission is $10.00. Light refreshments will be available.
