This photo is from the first summer encampment held after World War I in 1920. The Wisconsin Guard was in the process of rebuilding after being released from Federal Service and this was one of the smallest encampments in Camp Williams history.

There are several places in this photo that are recognizable 105 years later. In the background, left to right, is Long Bluff, Castle Rock and Target Bluff. The town of Camp Douglas is just visible just to the right of Target Bluff. In the foreground, middle, is Building 10 (originally built as a warehouse and still serving that function today), the Quartermasters House and Office (now an open field), and a second warehouse which is the current home of REACT. Just out of frame on the middle left side the location of the Officer's Club (now the WNG museum) with the rifle range in front.
