Sims Store Museum is open today from 12 - 4pm! Come for a walk and travel through history with our docents helping to answer questions. It's a beautiful day for a museum visit!

Over the past week or so you may have noticed the water in the Canal has gone down. Last Saturday we discovered a leak in the canal near the culvert. Volunteers opened a valve in the aqueduct to lower the water level below the leak so it could be worked on. That work began Saturday, with follow up grouting being done by our volunteers today. Hopefully this will fix the leak! Water always seeks the weakest spot & in our 181 year old section we are always looking for damage. Huge shout out to the volunteers who work so hard!

Thank you so much to the Rotary Book Club of Central New York for their generous donation to support our Park. Jim Morrow, President of the Syracuse Rotary Club is shown here giving the donation to Lisa Wiles, Park Coordinator, and Leon Graves, Camillus Canal Society President. The members enjoyed the hospitality of the pavilion and 2 private boat charters where they learned more about the Erie Canal and our Park. We appreciate their visit and generosity!

We are now on our Winter schedule for the museum, so we're open every Saturday 12-4. The trails remain open daily for your visits!

THANK YOU to all our passengers for a spectacular 2026 boat season! Whether you were on a 4th grade field trip, a private charter or on one of our many public boat rides, your questions, stories & participation made for a wonderful year! We are looking forward to seeing you again on the water in May, 2027! BUT remember we are NOT CLOSED! Sims Store Museum will be open EVERY Saturday from 12 - 4pm year-round! Be looking out for some fun activities coming very soon!

This week a number of our volunteers & our Park Coordinator took part in the Canal Society of New York State field trip to Herkimer & Little Falls. It's important for us to learn as much as we can about the Erie Canal so we can better share it with you! Highlights included Fort Herkimer/HerkimerChurch, the Herkimer Home and a wonderful cruise from Gems Along The Mohawk which took us through the biggest single lock on the system, Lock 17! Highly recommend you check out these spots also!

We are excited to announce the Maxwell Memorial Library will be back with us to do their fun (and free!) crafts in the Fall & Winter! Details to follow! 📖

The Library will be at the Canal about once a month to offer fun, creative activities for kids and adults. These drop-in programs are a great way to enhance your family’s visit to the Camillus Erie Canal. The Museum is located at 5750 Devoe Road in Camillus.
