How cool! Go visit our friends at the Highway Department!

Join the Town of Camillus Highway Department at their upcoming Open House & Touch-A-Truck Fun Day!

Bring the whole family out on Saturday, June 20 from 1:00–4:00 PM for an afternoon of hands-on fun. Kids (and kids at heart) will have the chance to explore highway trucks, snow plows, and heavy equipment, meet the hardworking crew behind the scenes, enjoy food, and take part in giveaways.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about the people and equipment that help keep our community running year-round.

It was a BUSY day at the Park today! Along with our regular work, being open & hosting a baby shower, the volunteers did valuable & perhaps life-saving training. The pilots/captains & narrators who make up our boating program trained in fire drills & man overboard drills, including "real" recovery from the Canal for everyone. Hopefully we will only have to save life jackets life from the water, but should something happen on one of our boats we are ready. In the afternoon a Dr. & nurse from Upstate Hospital taught 2 classes of "Stop the Bleed". We are careful & hope to never have accidents, but with the amount of machinery we work with, we want to be prepared. Great job, volunteers!

The New York Run for the Fallen was at the Park this morning to begin their run from Camillus to Buffalo. At different stopping points they have a ceremony honoring fallen soldiers. We were honored to stand witness with them. They arrive in Buffalo Sunday, so keep your eyes open for them along the way!

We have very sad news to share. Covey, our Muscovey duck mascot, has passed away. Covey literally flew in to the park & into our lives over 5 years ago & never left. She loved her life here! She had the freedom to swim whenever she wanted, to visit the pond across the street or hang out on the Towpath. She knew her name & recognized different people, especially Jean & Lisa (& sometimes Tony) who fed her twice/day. She would walk down to the barn with us to get her food & if we were late with her dinner she would come looking for us! She was the boss of all the ducks & even a goose or two. She loved posing for visitors, especially school groups, & many pictures of her were taken over the years. She was a great confidant & friend - she never told any secrets! She was buried here at the park overlooking the Canal she loved & we'll be working on a some sort of marker for her. She was an important member of our Park community & we will miss her. 💔
