The Camillus Canal Society is looking to complete a 3-to-5-Year Strategic Plan this Fall and is looking for a professional facilitator to help in this endeavor. Someone with not-for-profit experience who is used to working with volunteers would be a ideal! If you or someone you know are qualified and interested, please reach out to Lisa at [email protected] for more information.

The Erie Canal Museum has two lectures next week (in-person & virtual) that may be of interest on the impact of the Erie Canal on indigenous people who lived along what became the canal. Details in the post!

We had a wonderful treat today when a former crew member of the Day Peckinpaugh came to visit! (Thank you to Craig & Darrin at the Old Erie Canal Heritage Park- Port Byron for sending him over!). Jerry Bollinger's first crew job was on the Peckinpaugh in 1969 & then again on the DP's last voyage to Erie, PA in 1994. They're normal route was to puck up cement in Ontario, Canada, being out across Lake Erie & either delivery it to Rochester, or to go to Oswego, go south on the Oswego Canal to the Erie Canal & then on to Rome. He brought a photo album to show about his time on the ship. He had no idea what a "big deal" the Day Peckinpaugh is to canal folks! 😀 He was very happy to see the lifeboat in such great, restored condition. Jerry had such a good time he's coming back Sunday to take a boat ride, this time on one of ours which is still on the water. So glad you came to visit!
