Sabine Pass Lighthouse - Cameron Preservation Alliance The Cameron Preservation Alliance is trying to repair and preserve the Sabine Pass Lighthouse which has been abandoned since 1952.

The Sabine Pass Lighthouse was lit in 1856 and has endured many hurricanes and a Civil War Battle. The structure was abandoned in 1952 and has since fallen in disrepair. Ownership was transferred to the The Cameron Preservation Alliance in 2001 and the alliance is seeking to repair the structure. The hayride to the lighthouse on Oct. 24 will again feature a silent auction! Items such as artwork from Candice Alexander will be up for grabs. This item not only features a sketch of the Sabine Pass Lighthouse, but it also contains fragments of the original steps, a piece of the original ladder used to access the mechanical room, and a shell from the foundation.

A little tuck pointing on a hot Wednesday morning. Most of the top 10ish feet inside the tower has been tuck pointed, but there is still work to be done just under the deck plates.

More progress today. This is the interior crack on the south side of the tower being stitched up.
