Wednesday was a day to celebrate. 💙

We unveiled the name of our lake gallery, now known as the Lisa Schamberg and Pat Robins Lake Gallery, in honor of two people who have devoted their lives to this lake and this city. Lisa spent 26 years as an educator and nine years on ECHO's Board of Directors. Pat sailed these waters for decades and championed Burlington organizations from the Community Sailing Center to the Vermont Land Trust. Together, they are true stewards of Lake Champlain.

That same day, we dedicated an outdoor sign honoring Senator Patrick and Marcelle Leahy, a couple whose first date was on this lake and who never stopped fighting for it. Senator Leahy secured over $300 million in federal funds for protecting Lake Champlain and played a pivotal role in bringing ECHO to life. Marcelle championed the research and programs that shaped its future.

To Lisa, Pat, Senator Leahy, and Marcelle — thank you.

Today is Juneteenth! Do you know about Juneteenth's history in Vermont?
The Juneteenth Committee was established in Vermont in 1999 when the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation appointed Shirley Boyd-Hill of Essex Junction. Dr. Roy V. Hill and Shirley Boyd-Hill helped bring Juneteenth into public recognition as a growing statewide tradition through decades of community-building, cultural celebration, and political advocacy. In 2008, Vermont formally designate June 19 as “Juneteenth National Freedom Day”.

We are excited to share Juneteenth celebration graphics and event information from our friends at City of Burlington's REIB Office! Event is tomorrow, Saturday, June 20, from 1–9 pm in City Hall Park. Make sure you check it out!

🎬🐧New 3D movie premiering this Saturday, June 20! Much like their close cousins the Emperors, crowd-pleasing King penguins star in one of nature’s most extraordinary circle-of-life stories. Shot on the dramatic and uninhabited subAntarctic Crozet Archipelago, home to over half a million breeding pairs of penguins, the film chronicles the arrival of a lone, determined male suitor. Navigating a world of hungry orcas, predatory petrels, and feuding, farting elephant seals, a touching story of perseverance and parental care emerges, offering a family-friendly, timeless tale at the windswept and beautiful edge of the world.

🤖 THIS SATURDAY—High school teams from South Burlington and White River Junction are rolling into ECHO with their FIRST Robotics competition machines for a day of live demos, up-close exploration, and all things robotics.

🏞️Help keep Lake Champlain clean and Vermont green!🌲Join The WaterWheel Foundation tomorrow as they kick off a series of Burlington waterfront clean-ups in partnership with the Peace & Justice Center. Everyone is welcome! Bring your friends, family, kids, and colleagues! We'll meet up at A-Dog Skatepark at 10 am and pick up debris along the waterfront until noon. 🎧Join us for Sensory-Friendly Sunday this weekend! On Sunday, June 14, from 9-10 am, admission is FREE for anyone with sensory-processing differences. The museum will be closed to the general public, and lighting and sounds will be adjusted to allow visitors to enjoy the museum in a calm environment.
