New Summer Activity at the Museum: Museum Eyes!

Mama Bubba has lost her baby, Billy, somewhere inside the museum, and she needs your help finding him!

Children, put your Museum Eyes on as you explore the exhibits and see if you can spot where Billy is hiding. When you find him, tell the front desk where he is located and earn a prize.

Prizes are limited to one per child, per week, so come back often because Billy may move to a new hiding spot!

Join the fun all summer long and help reunite Mama Bubba and Billy at the museum. We can't wait to see who has the sharpest Museum Eyes!

Join us for the Coffey County Museum’s 1st Annual Genealogy Discovery Day on Saturday, June 27!

We’re excited to feature one of our four speakers, Dan Williamson of Burlington, presenting:
“Don’t Let Your Genealogy Go to the Landfill: Organize, Preserve, and Pass It On”

So, what will happen to all the family history research when you are gone? How can you prevent all the information you have collected and your hard work from ending up in the landfill? This course will offer some steps to save your records from being trash. First, you will learn a bit about the importance of getting your paper and digital records organized. Then what practically means are available to you to preserve your work for future generations.

Dan Williamson is a local genealogical enthusiast from Burlington. Dan gains great personal satisfaction assisting others with their genealogical research. He has been researching his family since the late 1970’s. Dan enjoys learning new research methods and regularly attends both online and in-person seminars. Dan then loves to share what he learns with fellow family history enthusiasts, particularly members of the Coffey County Genealogical Society.

Whether you are just beginning your family history journey or have years of research behind you, this workshop will provide valuable ideas for protecting and passing on your legacy.

We hope you’ll join us for a day of genealogy discovery, learning, and inspiration!
