Join us for art, events, and a welcoming community! Located in the heart of the beautiful historic downtown Burlington, Iowa, the Art Center showcases the works of local, and regional artists with monthly exhibits in the Gallery and one-of-a-kind artwork in the Artists Market. Children, teen, and adult art classes and workshops are offered along with special events throughout the year. The Gallery

Lounge offers the finest selection of wine, beer, & charcuterie boards in a creative atmosphere on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. The Art Center of Burlington is funded by memberships, as well as grants from Iowa Arts Council, John H. Witte Foundation, Virginia Murray Foundation, memorials, corporate sponsorships, private donations, and special fundraising events like the Snake Alley Art Fair and Battle of the Brushes. The Art Center of Burlington was founded in 1966 by a group of artists and friends with the first show at the Unitarian Church and eventually moving to its first home downstairs at the North Hill Medical Center. The very next year in 1967, the organization started the Father's Day tradition of Snake Alley Art Fair. Artists lined the alley with snow fence to hang their artwork for sale.

Come hang out at the Art Center of Burlington tomorrow night, Friday, September 4, for the opening reception of Metaphor & Metamorphosis: Fiber & Fashion Works by artist Judy Bales.

Judy's work brings together fiber, metal, wood, found materials and more, turning unexpected and sometimes industrial materials into pieces inspired by the textures, movement and beautiful messiness of nature. Her work is all about experimenting, improvising and finding beauty in places you might not expect it.

Join us for an evening of art, live music, charcuterie boards and a cash bar. Come see the show, meet Judy and spend a Friday night at ACB!

Free and open to everyone!

The exhibition will be on display September 1–26, 2026.

We will raise a glass, cut the cake, share stories, and celebrate the artists, teachers, and supporters who built ACB and the future we are building together.

Whether you took an art class, exhibited your work, volunteered, attended an event, served on a committee, or simply spent time in our galleries, your memories are part of ACB's story. We're collecting stories, photos, and reflections from community members to help celebrate six decades of creativity, connection, and artistic expression.

Selected memories may be shared during our 60th Birthday Celebration & Fundraiser on Saturday, September 19.

Thank you for helping us preserve the history of the Art Center of Burlington. We can't wait to hear your story!!

Come paint your dog or pet in a fun way and help raise funds for Logan and Biscuit! 🦮🐾

Paint It Forward
Saturday, September 26 // 10am-12pm
$40 for Adult Painting (Ages 12+)
$25 for Kid Painting (Ages 5-11)

The Van Zuiden family lived in Burlington for many years and moved to Iowa City about 4 years ago. Logan Van Zuiden was diagnosed with seizures several years ago. After many tests and various medications, Logan’s parents, Michelle and Brent, decided to try a therapy dog to help detect Logan’s seizures. Logan and Biscuit have intense training to do together through Superstar Service Dogs in Marion, Iowa.

The proceeds of our paint it forward will help offset these expenses. We will have an adult painting (ages 12+) and kids painting (5-11) during the same time.
