Today's Member Spotlight and Community Changemaker is Kingsland Sharing the Harvest! Sharing the Harvest staff and their Board of Directors realized that food need was a critical tip of the iceberg of need facing families and individuals living with economic disparity. Sharing the Harvest, after the recent purchase of its building on Rose Hill Drive in Kingsland, expanded it services offering diapers and formula, hygiene products, pet food, spay and neuter vouchers and more. Sharing the Harvest kicked off breast cancer awareness month on October 4th by hosting HerScan and providing free breast ultrasounds to the women in our community.

“It takes a village to get all of this done,” said Lisa Lyons who organizes and manages volunteers for distribution and community programs. “Luckily, we have the best village showing up but as needs increase, so does our need for volunteers and other resources.

Sharing the Harvest has a very special fundraising event coming up on November 12th! Rolling Away Hunger Bunco Night will allow Sharing the Harvest to continue their fight against hunger and food scarcity here at home! Tickets are on sale via the QR code now!

This Monday's Member Spotlight and our Community Changemaker of the week is Kingsland Sharing the Harvest!!! Did you know: 1 in 7 people living in Burnet and Llano Counties do not know where their next meal is coming from. 54% of our Burnet neighbors facing food insecurity do not qualify for federal nutrition programs. That number is 47% in Llano County.

Hunger relief is at the core of Sharing the Harvest’s mission. It all started in 1994 with providing reliable food pantry services to families and individuals in Kingsland. With their compassionate intake and a distribution program built to provide choices and ensure dignity for all, the dedicated staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure access to nutritious food options multiple times during the week. This week's distribution schedule is:
- TODAY, Monday, October 19th: 10 am to 1 pm
- Tuesday, October 20th: 4 to 7 pm
- Thursday, October 22nd: 10 am to 1 pm

Join the Llano County Historical Museum this Sunday evening, October 18th, for a very special event: A Cemetery Tour of Llano, Texas. Come out and hear the history and the stories of the very people who contributed to the Llano community. Parking will be available on side streets. All sites visited are in one area- the second road to the right after entering the cemetery from Hickory Street.

The tour begins at 6 PM and will focus on the lives of and tales about F.M. Cassaday, Lige Mabry, Robert Rowntree, J.C.Leverett, Isaiah Robinson, and George M. Watkins. There may be a ghost or two... it is a cemetery tour in October, after all! There is no fee to attend but donations are welcome! We hope to see you there for this very special event!
