On this day in 1836, Brunswick, MO was officially established by James Keyte, an English immigrant who named the settlement after his hometown of Brunswick, England. Located along the Missouri River, the town became a regional trading center, with steamboats transporting both goods and people. By 1849, the town had recorded 534 steamboat arrivals and departures. The installation of the railroad around 1867 only enhanced its transportation role, while the fertile soil around Brunswick supported the cultivation of to***co, grains, cotton, honey, pork, and furs. Known as the "Pecan Capital of Missouri," Brunswick still celebrates its rich agricultural roots 190 years later.

Today, visitors can enjoy charming shops, local dining, river access, historic sites, and of course—the annual Brunswick Pecan Festival happening this weekend! Whether you're stopping by for the history or the hospitality, Brunswick is always worth the visit!
