Happy Independence Day! This weekend holds significant meaning for not just the USA but all Tina fans.

Fifty years ago, on July 1, 1976, while traveling to a concert in Dallas, Tina Turner made the courageous decision to leave Ike Turner and a violent relationship. With only a small amount of money and a gas card, she escaped to a nearby hotel, beginning a new chapter that led to one of music’s greatest comebacks in history. Today, we salute her courage, stamina and determination. She truly deserves the title of 'Queen."

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of one of Haywood County’s greatest champions, Patrick Mann.

A lifelong resident and generous benefactor, Mr. Pat played a pivotal role in preserving Flagg Grove School and helping bring the Tina Turner Museum to life. Because of his vision and generosity, this project became a reality far sooner than anyone imagined.

His love for his hometown and his commitment to making Haywood County a better place to live can be seen around every corner of our community. His impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.

We are forever grateful. 🤍
