Friday, June 15th, at six, Galeria 409's Photography Exhibition opens to the public. It features digital and film photographers from the Rio Grande Valley. I don't have access to the material yet, so I thought I'd run a shot of my great, great grandmother, a refugee from Indian Removal in the US. She and her sister fled to the Texas Republic in 1837. I think of them each time I hear about asylum seekers on the bridges over the Rio Grande.

Galeria 409 will be closed Saturday for Dia de los Mu***os. Some of us start celebrating early. SPEEK ENGLISH and NONVER...

Galeria 409 will be closed Saturday for Dia de los Mu***os. Some of us start celebrating early. SPEEK ENGLISH and NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION will be open and on view Friday October 27. This season the gallery is closed Sunday through Thursday.

We do Art Walks differently in Brownsville. Join us Saturday at 6 for our inaugural third Friday Noche de Arte. 14 downtown venues will be participating. Come on down and support the arts on la Frontera. (no humans were harmed in the making of this picture).

The works are beginning to trickle in for HOT HOT HOT New Talent which opens Friday, September 15th at 6 pm at Galeria 409 as part of Brownsville's 1st Noche de Arte. It's our first ever 3rd Friday art walk, so come on down and help us inaugurate this monthly cultural festivity and check out the 20 HOT under 30 artists at Galeria Quatrocientos nueve. 14 venues are participating.
