🚨🚨 Fundraising Alert 🚨🚨

Our friend Rachel of Chaos Built has been a tireless supporter and advocate of the Wyckoff Farm, especially in spearheading youth build projects here. She has been dedicated to helping support youth and a true superhero during the COVID pandemic, lending her expertise, skill and effort as the builder and contractor putting together outdoor dining facilities in and around NYC — and especially in Chinatown where overlooked small businesses have need the most help.

She now needs our support to help get her a working van! No amount is too small to contribute.

Check out the GoFundMe link below or in our bio for more info.

We want to thank all of our volunteers who participated in last weekend’s #MLKDayofService! We had a successful garden clean up day processing compost, spreading mulch, and planting shallots.

Are you looking for more socially distanced outdoor activities this winter?

Farmer Zach will be hosting compost volunteer days every Friday from 1-4PM. Safely get outside and get your hands dirty while learning the basics of composting and helping us continue to process food scraps for our community.

"All I'm saying is simply this: that all mankind is tied together; all life is interrelated, and we are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of identity. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. For some strange reason I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. And you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be - this is the interrelated structure of reality." Oberlin College Commencement 1965

Today we honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy of advocating justice and equality for all. Inequity harms everyone but with equity there is opportunity to move forward through education, connection, and positive change.

Welcome to #FoodScrapFriday! We will be highlighting our compost operations here on the Wyckoff Farm as well as from other sites around NYC, gathering resources, and sharing tips for first-time composters.

At the height of it's operation the citywide organics recycling program was able to divert 2% of the city's waste from landfills, that's a lot! Since the pandemic began, compost operations have been severely impacted. Big Reuse & Lower East Side Ecology Center have shouldered the brunt of food scrap processing, along with smaller sites like ours, with increased demand but reduced funds and now are facing the prospect of being forced from their locations.

Since March, our food scrap drop off doubled to about 50lbs a week!

We have just learned the developer’s application for a new building next door will come before the Landmarks Preservation Commission at a public hearing next week, on Tuesday, January 12!

The new building is TALLER and MORE MASSIVE than the prior proposed eight-story hotel, making the risk of damage, and possible destruction, even higher. Construction is absolutely guaranteed to cause irreversible structural damage to the Merchant's House.

We're honored to see that our Board Member and Chair of our Museum Community Advisory Committee, Joan Bakiriddin honored as one of Brooklyn's COVID heroes, among the likes of Fauci Anthony! See her quoted in the articles about it. Congrats Joan!!!
Lucy Wycoff 1828-1900 Marred to Wiliam M Hansell Hi , I was wondering if there might be any pictures in your museum of Lucy Wycoff Hansell.. I have pictures of there kids but not of them..My mothers mother was a Hansell.. Trying to put together a scrapbook of the Hansell family.. Love to have any help you are welling to give to me.. Blessings, Karen Sampson
Museum activities for children so nice for those who live in proximity of the family house; but, what about those family members who might live in Kentucky, Missouri, Colorado, California, etc. How can relatives in these states participate in activities that are financed by family members throughout the US. What can I do in Kentucky to generate interest in grandchildren who have direct DNA to Pieter> Dr. Jerry R. Aschermann Union, Kentucky
Thanks for a great tour today. We loved visiting Wyckoff House!
Any "real" Wykhoff`s" oder Wyckoff`s etc. here? :)
