Humans might be ready to wilt in the heat this week but our farm is still thriving! As Farmer Paul says “our sunflowers are in a rush to jump out in front of everybody” when you walk around the gardens.

Just as a reminder, public tours and the farm stand are both cancelled this Saturday but drop in garden volunteering is still on for tomorrow beginning at 12PM.

This week is #PollinatorWeek

We depend on pollinators like birds, bees, butterflies, and bats to pollinate over 75% of the Earth's plants. Many of our pollinators are are in trouble due to habitat loss, pesticides, climate change, and invasive species. Planting a native plant garden or window box can go a long way to creating pollinator-friendly ecosystem! 🐝🐞🦋

Next time you swing by the Wyckoff Farm say hello to our hardworking bees and see what other pollinators you can spot.

Thanks to all who came out to our Juneteenth edition of Family Day! Meeting, talking, and crafting with you all is what makes our museum a living space - we love to learn from and with you 🌱We’re honored to share this space with you all and hope to see you back again soon! 🌞

Image descriptions: 1) a young person’s hands hold a green, white and blue flag bedazzled with sticky jewels. 2) a young person in a baseball cap holds a green flag with black stripes and a purple sparkly star. 3) several pink, purple and orange flags with jewels and drawings on them rest on a blue picnic table, alongside craft supplies and a grownup’s hand. 4) families gather under the maple tree as Joan reads a storybook into a microphone.

June Farmhouse Family Day is coming this weekend, Saturday the 19th - which is also Juneteenth, a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the US. June is also Caribbean American Heritage Month, as well as Pride Month! All these holidays got us thinking about the important symbolism of flags - how they’re created and what they mean to all of us. This Family Day join us for a creative flag-making activity as we design our own personal flags, as well as a special Juneteenth Storytime with our friend and Community Advisory Board member Joan G! You can RSVP on Eventbrite via the #linkinbio or stop by on Saturday from 11am - 3pm (Storytime at 12pm, flag-making activity at 1pm). 🇱🇨🇹🇹🏳️‍🌈🇬🇩This flag was created by artist-in-residence Iviva Olenick, as part of her series (im)Migration Lines, exploring history and identity in Brooklyn through embroidery and natural dyeing.

Image descriptions: 1) close-up of “Why Do We Resist Cultural Preservation?” by Iviva Olenick, a remix of the American flag featuring red embroidered text and blue beaded stars. 2) young Afro-American dancers in pink leotards wave the Trinidadian, St Lucian, and Grenadian flags during a performance in front of the Wyckoff House.

Can someone tell me the author and complete poem inside the Wyckoff Home as seen recently on a PBS special. I often wonder what would happen to this old house Thank You

We're honored to see that our Board Member and Chair of our Museum Community Advisory Committee, Joan Bakiriddin honored as one of Brooklyn's COVID heroes, among the likes of Fauci Anthony! See her quoted in the articles about it. Congrats Joan!!!
Lucy Wycoff 1828-1900 Marred to Wiliam M Hansell Hi , I was wondering if there might be any pictures in your museum of Lucy Wycoff Hansell.. I have pictures of there kids but not of them..My mothers mother was a Hansell.. Trying to put together a scrapbook of the Hansell family.. Love to have any help you are welling to give to me.. Blessings, Karen Sampson
Museum activities for children so nice for those who live in proximity of the family house; but, what about those family members who might live in Kentucky, Missouri, Colorado, California, etc. How can relatives in these states participate in activities that are financed by family members throughout the US. What can I do in Kentucky to generate interest in grandchildren who have direct DNA to Pieter> Dr. Jerry R. Aschermann Union, Kentucky
Thanks for a great tour today. We loved visiting Wyckoff House!
Any "real" Wykhoff`s" oder Wyckoff`s etc. here? :)
A question: What do the birds on the mantel, each with a name tag, signify?
