What an absolutely incredible first night at the Affordable Art Fair NYC! It was so much fun to celebrate these artists and meet so many art lovers. We are at the fair through Sunday on the second level, booth F1.

We can’t think of a better way to spend a crisp fall weekend than strolling through Chelsea and seeing some great art. Hope to see you there!

Big news! We are honored to have been chosen as the inaugural Fellow for the Affordable Art Fair’s new Fellowship program this fall in NYC!

This new pilot program is “intended to grant an opportunity to up-start arts organizations in the Greater New York area to showcase their community’s work to a wider audience of collectors and enthusiasts.” We will be sharing much more about this wonderful collaboration in the coming weeks!

This will be our first fair and we are so excited to amplify the work of some of our amazing artists. At this fair, we will be showcasing the work of Liza Domingues, Traci Johnson, Sean Qualls, and Rick Secen.

A huge THANK YOU to AAF for believing in our gallery and giving us this incredible opportunity!

For the cherry on top - we have been given a code that grants our visitors FREE All-Access passes to the fair for the entire show (an over $80 value)! Use code GESTABLISHEDFELLOWVIP at checkout to take advantage of this incredible offer!

We can't wait to see you there, Thursday September 22nd - Sunday September 25th at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W 18th Street, New York, NY.

Traci Johnson and Established co-owner Hally Thornton recently spoke to Paper Magazine about Johnson’s show “Creatures of Desire” - click the link below to read the wonderful article! “Creatures of Desire” is on display at Established Gallery through July.

Indeed, womanhood today rests somewhere between drawing blood and a manicure. There's beauty and showmanship to it, but also the draining of vital resources. As institutions, opinionated celebrities, and even those in our everyday lives either embellish or confine womanhood, everyone seems to have s...

OPENING FRIDAY 7-9pm! Established Gallery is pleased to present “Creatures of Desire,” a solo show by Traci Johnson . The show runs from Wednesday, July 6th – Saturday July 30th with an opening reception on Friday, July 8th from 7-9pm.

Johnson (they/them) was born and raised in Brooklyn and graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. Their concepts are driven by mental health, and art and fashion as therapy subcultures. Johnson’s work is informed by trauma and how the human mind, soul, and body can be soothed by a moment. They also hope to bring a sense of euphoria and vibration within the colors of their art.

In their solo show, “Creatures of Desire,” Johnson depicts abstract, womanly forms via textiles, weaving, and yarn rugs. These forms allude to the perception of women’s bodies as sexual vessels. Johnson invites the viewer to examine how womanhood is often projected onto others and oneself, and to imagine a world in which women reclaim their sexuality and are given the space to explore various roles.

“Women are often held to some preconceived notion of how they ought to live, and the world tries to carve them into more ‘acceptable’ versions of themselves. This must be acknowledged and changed. Why must we carry the trauma of so many generations before us? It is my hope that these characters provide a roadmap for women to find their way back to their true, unapologetic, wild selves,” said Johnson.

Did you know that our web site has videos of studio visits with our exhibiting artists? Produced by our Associate Director, Rick Secen, these videos give a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the processes that go into making the art, as well as discussions with the artists about what inspires them. In this video, Ai Campbell who has two works on display in our current show, "So Says This Tranquil Space," graciously allowed us into her summer residency studio at School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. For more videos, head to our web site and click on the "Videos" tab. Enjoy!
