Virginia ("Gigi") Sarsfield, a production hand paper maker since 1994 produces a wide variety of artist-grade papers drawing inspiration from the world around her. Bits of fibers from walks in the woods or along the sea often find their way into some of the papers. The result is a rich palette of handmade papers in many different shades and textures. The lampshades produced from her papers are one

Lamp bases are by Mark Hutton, a friend since I moved back to Maine. Mark is no longer with us but his wife Hillary is keeping his light shining brightly. I have a few of his lamps here and hope to be replenishing the gallery with some of Hillary's rugs. Huttonstudios

“To take a stand”…
We’ve had a lot of discussion around here at World Headquarters these days. One of the actions that I think will prove to be most effective in combating our fascist regime’s takeover of our Government is going to end up being economic action, and I think it will come in the form of a general strike.
While support by the citizenry for these people dwindles, they still enjoy a certain amount of positive reinforcement from the billionaire community. The overarching theme with this regime has always been Capital, and how best to secure as much of it as they can. The “Follow the Money” idea is still the best way to maybe get a handle on what these people are up to, and the money is indeed flowing upwards like a river. The Wall Street Journal ran a piece about the Trump family’s ascent to wealth since his re-election, and it is extreme. While they break the Government, disassemble our institutions, upset the world order and tear our civil society apart- they are basically just taking all the money.
Tomorrow, a general strike has been called. Originally, it was based areas under assault by ICE agents, and has spread a bit further afield. We have been ruminating about closing in support, but have chosen instead to remain open in order to keep feeding our community. Anyone who has been watching us understands our commitment to supporting myriad causes and groups, and by no means do we feel like everything is o.k. We do feel, however, that with the scant support locally and limited knowledge about this proposed action we’d mostly just be inconveniencing and annoying our customers. Also, if you know us, we are not above annoying our customers to make a point- but our choice to sit this one out is deliberate and reasoned. We’ll definitely have this fight, but it will come at a later date and on a larger stage as part of a much larger action. One that will demonstrate to the Billionaires and the multinational corporations who are riding this wave that they cannot, actually, exist and prosper without the workers and the customers. So keep warm, eat our soup and let’s make a plan! Today, we have 2 soups, Beef & Guinness pies and Ham & Cheese Scones! 11-5.
