Did you know Brookhaven has a historical museum, right in the heart of downtown?

Housed in Brookhaven’s historic former Jewish synagogue, the museum is full of stories, artifacts and pieces of our community’s rich history. It’s a wonderful stop for locals and visitors alike!

They are located in downtown Brookhaven and are open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or by appointment.

Lance Alworth, a Brookhaven legend, Class of 1958

Lance Alworth, who was raised in Lincoln County and went to Brookhaven High School, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on July 29, 1978.

Alworth is a former football wide receiver who played for the San Diego Chargers and the Dallas Cowboys. Often considered one of the greatest wide receivers of all time, he played for 11 seasons, from 1962 through 1972, and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1978. He was the first player inducted whose playing career was principally in the AFL. Alworth is also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
