⭐️Good evening everybody⭐️ We would like to extend our gratitude to Shawn Clark of SON Heating and A/C for his exceptional service this afternoon. The Tillman house air conditioner had stopped working. Shawn was there within 5 minutes, had it fixed within the hour and donated his entire expenses. What an amazing generous man!
THANK YOU SHAWN! YOU’RE THE BEST! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a FASCINATING FASTENER!

Interestingly enough, the button hook was also used at Ellis Island to examine under the eyelids of the immigrants coming into America.
The medical inspectors would lift the eyelid with the hook and flip it inside out to check for characteristic white bumps and small granules that would indicate the presence of a disease called Trachoma (Chlamydia Trachomatis). It is a severe bacterial infection that led to permanent blindness.
If the inspector spotted this, they would use chalk to mark the immigrants coat, with a “CT” and that would send that person for a secondary, more thorough medical review.
Under the laws of that era, trachoma was considered as”loathsome and a dangerous disease” making a confirmed diagnosis an automatic deportation back to the immigrants port of departure.
They often warned each other to “beware of the button hook men!”
Present day we have antibiotics that clear this disease effectively but back then they did not.
