You have arrived once you start making your own tools - said Kelly O'Dell during a demo at Pilchuck glass school. Kelly O'Dell is an amazing glass artist. This tool reminded me of that wonderful memory.

Multi tool, c1580. Iron with etched decorations. Nuremberg, Germany. Can be used as pliers, hammer, nail-puller or mini anvil.

Before industrialization the tool was of key importance to the craftsman. Beauty was partly due to its function and partly to the quality of its design. It also reflected a professional pride, the tool as a status symbol and sign of belonging. For this reason tools were often masterfully decorated.

Change of plans! Open Studio Cancelled Friday June 15th. We are taking a road trip to downtown Detroit to help support the glassworking community raise money to help the Belle Isle Aquarium reopen! To further my quest to spread "Bead Happiness" and share my love of creation with others, I am working on building a curriculum that includes, stringing beads to make finished jewelry, metal arts for use in other projects like jewelry or yard art. Group gatherings or retreats are also on my radar. What would you like to see happen at Stanesa Glass Studio? Your opinion counts! :)
