WHY ART MATTERS

Sometimes, art simply asks us to sit down and stay awhile.

In a world that seems to move faster every day, art gives us permission to pause.
To look closely.
To feel something.
To remember.
To wonder.

A painting can bring back a memory. A photograph can tell a story. A child creating something with their own hands can remind us how important it is to imagine.

This is why art matters.

Art helps us see the familiar in a new way. It gives us a way to express what we sometimes can't put into words. And it creates opportunities for people to connect—with the work, with one another, and with their community.

That's why the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center is more than a gallery.

🎨 What a wonderful afternoon celebrating art! 🎨

Our 34th Annual Juried Art Show Reception was such a wonderful success, and we couldn’t have done it without the incredible artists who shared their work with us.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to every artist who entered this year’s show. Your creativity, talent, and willingness to put your work out into the world are what make exhibitions like this possible. We were honored to showcase your art at the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center.

We’re also incredibly grateful to our juror, Barbara Hack, for sharing her expertise and helping us bring together such a beautiful and diverse exhibition.

And to everyone who came out for the reception—thank you! Seeing our galleries filled with artists, art lovers, friends, family, and members of our community made the evening truly special. ❤️

🎨🎶 ARTIST OPPORTUNITY! | ART OF THE SONG 2026

Calling all artists! The Chisholm Trail Art Association and Nocona Nights Music Festival are inviting artists to participate in the 2026 Art of the Song Juried Show & Sale, October 9–10 in Nocona, Texas.

🎵 The theme is MUSIC — at least one of your entries must be connected to music.

Original 2D and 3D artwork is welcome, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, fiber art, glass, mixed media, digital art and more.

🏆 And take a look at the judge!
The show will be judged by nationally acclaimed artist Soon Y. Warren, an accomplished watercolorist, oil painter and teacher whose work has appeared in numerous national art publications.

💰 Entry fees:
• CTAA members: $25 for up to 2 entries
• Non-members: $35 for up to 2 entries
• Additional entries available
