The latest Book of the Week is live. 🧡

Luke sits down with poet, photography critic, and literary scholar Collier Brown to explore Jungjin Lee's Everglades, published by Nazraeli Press in 2016. They dig into the book's stunning physical construction, Lee's photographs that walk the line between imagination and reality, and the unexpected playfulness running through the whole thing.

Some stories resist being fully told, and that's exactly what makes them worth following.

Amani Willett's The Disappearance of Joseph Plummer traces the life of an 1800s New Hampshire hermit who left his town of 100 people behind for the woods, and left almost nothing else behind at all. The scant records, the local mythology, the long walks through the trees searching for a home that's no longer there, Willett's photographs sit with that mystery rather than trying to solve it.

The show closes this Wednesday. Come get a little lost. 🧡

This Saturday, don't miss a free artist talk with photographer David Ricci on his new book Hunter Gatherer, published by MW Editions. 🧡

A decade in the making, the project explores America's complex cultural history through objects and scenes found at resale markets across the country, touching on consumerism, race, beauty, pop culture, and religion. It's a rich body of work, and we're excited to hear David speak about it in person.

Today, we’re continuing to introduce VCP’s volunteer Board of Directors, featuring Davìda Carta, who joined the board in 2025.

Davìda is an educator and lens-based artist originally from Milan, Italy. Her work and writing are driven by a strong interest in contemporary photography. She earned her Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the New Hampshire Institute of Art in 2018, and since then has built a dynamic practice that spans teaching, writing, and curating.

Her writing on photography has appeared in Lenscratch, Silvergrain Classics, and Underexposed Magazine, the online platform she founded in 2016 to amplify the work of women and women-identifying fine art photographers. She has also curated a number of photography exhibitions in Italy and the United States, including projects with FMAV in Modena, Italy, the Print Gallery at VCP, and the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center in Vermont, where she is currently developing an upcoming exhibition project.

Passionate about supporting artists at every stage of their careers, Davìda also mentors emerging and mid-career photographers as they shape and refine their creative practices. Finally, she has been teaching digital photography at Landmark College in Putney, Vermont.
