The Knox Creek Heritage Center in Brantwood, WI, dedicated to preserving the heritage of the pioneers that settled these great Northwoods held their “Mid-Summer Cook-Out” on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
Jeff Calhoun provided an excellent afternoon with a wonderful musical experience throughout the day.
The grounds were opened at 11:00am for everyone to experience our historic buildings and artifacts. The weather could not have been more perfect for our event.
Homemade Finnish Multigrain Bread and Pulla (a cardamom braid sweet bread) were available for sale.
A dinner was served from noon until around 1:30pm. Everyone attending enjoyed a marvelous afternoon with grilled burgers or brats with all the fixings.
This is one of our four annual fund-raisers since being established in 1995. We thank everyone that attended and enjoyed the afternoon with old friends and newcomers looking to reconnect with their historic roots.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with any of our events; in the kitchen, serving, cleaning up afterward and helping maintain our unique site. Please reach out to Kevin Wollemann; President at (715) 551-5967 to commit to helping for a day or any of our events. We are also seeking individuals and families to become part of KCHC. By becoming a member you can help maintain our unique historical site, receive our regularly published newsletter to help keep you informed and preserve our local history. We have completed a couple major projects; residing and painting the original Main Farmhouse and Keto House (which houses our Coop Store, One Room Schoolhouse and Logging Displays). We are soliciting ideas and/or suggestions on what can be done to preserve the old Spirit Baptist Church. Any donation of time and/or money will be greatly appreciated.
Mark your calendars for our third annual Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, September 19, 2026 (donate your best for an opportunity to win a Grand Prize…and bragging rights).

The Knox Creek Heritage Center in Brantwood, WI, is dedicated to preserving the heritage of the pioneers that settled these great Northwoods. The Center held our “Late Spring Cook-Out/Kick-Off to Summer” event on Saturday, May16, 2026. The weather was perfect to host an outdoor barbecue (except being a little breezy). Although turnout was not what was expected, those who did attend enjoyed reminiscing and socializing over a great meal with grilled burgers, brats and all the sides. All of our historic buildings were open for touring and homemade multigrain bread and Pulla (a cardamom braid, sweet bread) were available. The gift shop display was also open with numerous new wares available for purchase. This is one of our four annual fund-raisers since being established in 1995 and 2026 marks our 31st year of existence, which highlights the pioneers and settlers of the area.
Please plan on joining us for our, “Mid-Summer Cook-Out” on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Come out to see the progress on the projects completed and those we plan to undertake this year, we are soliciting suggestions to maintain/restore the old Spirit Baptist Church (which is in dire need of some repairs). Ideas and volunteers are always appreciated.

The Knox Creek Heritage Center hosted a group of students from the Prentice High School on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 for Community Service Day. The group included several of the teachers and about 15 students that helped at the Knox Creek Heritage Center cleaning in our buildings in preparation for our summer events. The grounds were prepared with a large amount of brush clearing from around the buildings and in the yard, removal of excess rubbish and trash from the Main House, Keto House and the Spirit Baptist Church attic. It is truly a blessing having these young folks participating in the preservation of our site and having a little exposure to the history of the area. They definitely provide a valuable service to our community. The Board of KCHC thanks and appreciates the efforts they put in and the service they provide. Please find attached a picture of the group that helped this day;
