The Museum is closed for Labor Day weekend.
This is a photo of the International Brotherhood of Blacksmiths and Helpers from an undated Labor Day parade, but it was likely between 1903 and 1919. Back row left to right: Herman Slocum and Richard Halladay. Front row left to right: Lloyd Jones, Ernest Wickstrom, Carlson, and L. Evanson.

Let’s step back into the 1970s together with films of Brainerd from 1971! Enjoy street scenes, reminisce about old businesses, and help identify local faces alongside friends from the BHS graduating classes of 1972–1975. The films are silent, making it easy to chat, share memories, and swap stories while watching.

Light refreshments will be available for a free will donation.

It's back-to-school season! Here are the students of Baxter School District 36 in 1906. Ida Anderson Holt is seated second from the right. Nora Mason and Avery Cass are the kids on the right end of the middle row. Valentine Kinney and Clyde Mason are second and third from the left in the back row.

An envelope from the old Commercial Hotel in Brainerd, postmarked 1888.

Originally built in 1871 as the Leland House, the name was changed in 1883 to the Commercial Hotel. It was owned by C. H. Douglas from at least 1887 until 1890, when it was then sold to J. W. Z. Boynton.

Located on the SW corner of 5th and Laurel Streets, it burned down on October 10, 1890.
