In the 1920s, Bradley Beach, NJ, was home to a vibrant baseball scene centered around a competitive local semi-pro baseball team managed by local promoter William H. Truby. Games were played at Bradley Beach Field, a historic block of land located adjacent to the train station along Sixth Avenue. The era is most famous for putting Bradley Beach on the national sports map by hosting legendary baseball figures and prominent Negro League matchups.
