Why have Medvedev and Zverev been the players to watch out for this summer?

Because of their return of serve!

By standing far back behind the baseline and neutralizing the opponent’s first serve, Medvedev is taking away their biggest asset.

The percentage of returns is a big factor in players’ success. For example, at Roland-Garros, Djokovic and Tsitsipas (who happened to reach the final), had the highest return percentage rate of the tournament.

Will the return take more and more importance in the game?

Black Tennis History is sad to announce the passing of Hall of Fame Oscar Johnson. Oscar was inducted into the Black Tennis Hall of Fame in 2010. We were fortunate to conduct a video interview with Oscar, which you can view on www.blacktennishistory.com. A great champion, a wonderful man, a pioneer who opened the door for the thousands who followed. He will be missed!
