The DeWeese Gallery is pleased to host an exhibition on loan from the Holter Museum in Helena Montana titled " Paw Prints" works from the collection by Jessie Wilber. Additionally, our own BHS Art Club has a number of pieces by Jessie Wilber in our permanent collection that were pulled to accompany this exhibition. Jessie WIlber found inspiration in many places, from the African Savanna to her own backyard. During her travels and her time at home, Jessie spent time observing many different kinds of animals. She noticed the ways that they looked, moved, and how they interacted with the environment and with each other. Jessie used her observations to help her create drawings, paintings, and prints. The pieces in this show were chosen to celebrate Jessie for her skills in printmaking, her unique point of view, and her ability to convey emotion through her artwork.

"Jessie taught art at Montana State College in Bozeman for many years and helped bring modern art ideas to the school. She worked on big art projects, like painting a mural for a U.S. post office and making prints of colorful tipis. Jessie also traveled to Africa and made a series of prints inspired by what she saw there."

Please visit this wonderful exhibition of works, available for viewing through December 10th. The Robert and Gennie DeWeese Gallery is free and open to the public Monday-Friday from 8:30am-3:00pm. Please check in at the main office of Bozeman High School to visit the gallery.

The DeWeese Gallery welcomes work by Maren Stubenvoll, "Hold Your Horses"

This exhibition is in collaboration with the BHS Art Club, who worked to invite Maren to our gallery space.

The pieces of the "Hold Your Horses" installation aim to subvert the traditional narrative of western art- one with a rich history of depicting violence. Be it the bloody expansion westward, cowboy shoot outs, destruction of land, or questionable hunting ethics, traditional western art has no shortage of suffering. This collection of pieces reimagines and highlights the west as a colorful utopia of beauty, humility, humor, and undeniable interconnectedness of humanity and the land.

We welcome you to utilize the gallery space for your classes. Our hours are 8:30-3:30 Monday-Friday. Hold Your Horses will be up through May 7th.
