During our life together, Brian McCormack and I shared many things, including our love for art. As business partners, and with the help of gifted artists, our ideas melded and we nurtured the creative, magical sanctuary known as Hamilton Street Gallery. Our focus was on open-mindedness and diversity so as to assure a wealth of opportunity for all levels of creative thought.

As Hamilton Street Gallery transcends into its next phase, it carries the strength of its rich history and invites all beloved artists to share with us their full expressive potential.

I'm excited to announce that, as of September 1st, 2024, the ownership and operations of the Hamilton Street Gallery have been passed on to The Media and Performance Collective – an NJ arts nonprofit that works closely with the Brook Theater. After over a decade of showcasing incredible artists and fostering creativity in Bound Brook’s downtown arts district, I look forward to seeing this new chapter unfold.

Please join the folks at Gallery on Main, Somerville, NJ for a reception celebrating a retrospective exhibition of works by artist and Hamilton Street Gallery co-director Brian McCormack, who passed away suddenly on March 9 of this year. Entitled Re-Strung, it features guitar sculptures uniquely and creatively made from repurposed found objects, which are also playable as musical instruments.

Admission is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there.

A musician as well as a visual artist, Brian McCormack had a long history and deep affection for musical instruments. He believed that an instrument not played is existentially tragic, due to the endless possibilities of its joyful potential. Says his wife Joan, “It is my hope that musicians, artists, and all those who view Brian's guitars will become inspired by his legacy of imaginative brilliance.”

Brian’s work will be on view, and available for purchase, at Gallery on Main throughout August 2024.
