But...
Gravity is a funny thing. It binds us to its kinetic race, ever threatening to tear us to shreds and only if we are lucky, releases us on impact. It is gravity that brought me to the realization that, among many other things, I am actually a non- binary trans woman. At some point on this multidirectional and at times heavily dysfunctional trajectory I came to realize that I needed to find ways to express this newly discovered aspect of myself outside of the metal shop. I am still sculpting but I have taken that into a new, purposefully slower direction. Like it or not, I am getting older and besides that I have come to discover that learning to slow the f**k down can do a surprising amount of good for a defective humanoid like me. Painting is slow. I like painting. And I like being a defective humanoid. For now anyway, Abby K. Dabby is a conjuring where I can express this side of myself while exploring new things and will serve as a place where anyone so inclined to help support me on my journey can do so if they choose.

Maybe other things...who knows?! In a lot of ways and as far as I have already come, I still find myself at the beginning. And that is ok. Actually no, it is better than that. It's pretty freaking sweet. It is likely that some of this information will be met with mixed reviews (to some, it may not come as much of a surprise at all). I get it- it isn't for everyone. However gravity, much like the truth, hits everybody. And it is my hope that for those of you who need it- gravity finds you when you need it the most. Because sometimes it takes something stronger than we are to knock the wind out of our sails, granting us an opportunity to undo some of the things we do to ourselves. Even learn a thing or two if we are lucky enough and willing to take a good, hard look at the pieces before beginning to rebuild.
