Last call!! Kingston exhibitions “Circulations” by Linda Leslie Brown, “Noise Antidote” by Bonnie Sennott, and “Still” by Vaughn Sills are only on view until this Sunday, April 27th!

Brown’s works are rich with allusions to the body, while simultaneously evoking a new, transgenic nature—one where corporeal and mechanical entities merge and recombine. The sculptures suggest a world that is both fluid and uncertain, where the boundaries between organic and synthetic are porous and ever-shifting.

Sennott’s abstract embroidery offers an antidote to the constant noise of social media, news, texts, and emails—coming from screens and devices of all sizes. It also provides a reprieve from the ongoing chatter of our busy minds.

Sills explores the stillness both of the photograph itself—the way a moment is suspended in time—and of the land, which holds a quiet, steady beauty. Her photographs reflect a deep reverence for the land and for the rhythms of rural life, implying a connection to the steady work of farming and an enduring respect for the environment.

Kingston Gallery is open Wednesday–Sunday from 12–5pm. Don’t miss out!

Introducing May exhibitions at Kingston Gallery!!

In the Main and Center Galleries, Phyllis Ewen presents “Inundation,” where she explores how our imagination and memories interact with the natural world. Topographical waterscapes, charts and weather maps are altered and then reassembled to form imagined coastal images–the effects of anthropogenic global warming.

Mira Cantor’s “When we were starfish…” is featured in Kingston’s Project Space. In these new drawings, starfish appear as connections to the evolution of mankind. They are specimens that were prompted by Cantor’s interest in Leonardo’s Vitruvian Man and starfish fossils from her investigations in the Burren in Ireland.

“Inundation” and “When we were starfish…” are on view from April 30th to June 1st, and there is an opening reception on Friday, May 2nd from 5–8pm.  Stay tuned for more!

A big thank you to all who joined us last Saturday for “Making and Seeing,” an artist talk with Linda Leslie Brown, Bonnie Sennott, and Vaughn Sills!

Brown discussed her current exhibition, “Circulations,” and the delight of transformation through clay and its malleability.  Her work is an experiment of collapsing and building, breaking and mending, and energy circulation.

Sennott explored the intention behind works in her exhibition, “Noise Abstraction.”  She uses a mix of a set color scheme and an improvisational method to create works that are peaceful, playful, and quiet.

Sills dove into her relationship with Prince Edward Island in her exhibition “Still.”  Full of familial roots and childhood memories, Sills’ photographs are about the past, capturing a moment in time full of color, intention, and awe.

The work in “Still” is a collection of photographs culled from years of artist Vaughn Sills’ time spent photographing on Prince Edward Island. Her works reflect a deep reverence for the land and for the rhythms of rural life, implying a connection to the steady work of farming and an enduring respect for the environment. For Sills, photography is a way to bear witness and find sustenance.

In "Circulations," Linda Leslie Brown’s sculptures explore the transformative exchanges between nature, objects, and the viewer’s creative perception. Shana Dumont Garr states "The humble, funky, at times awkward silhouettes encompass a range of contradictions-organic and manufactured, bright and muted, sharp and smooth, foreign and familiar—embracing binaries in a way that embodies wisdom and pathos.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Friday for the opening of "Circulations" by Linda Leslie Brown, "Noise Antidote" by Bonnie Sennott, and "Still" by Vaughn Sills. If you missed it, don't worry! These fantastic exhibitions are on view at Kingston Gallery until April 27th.

In "Circulations," Brown’s sculptures explore the transformative exchanges between nature, objects, and the viewer’s creative perception. Many of the pieces are intimate in scale, not much larger than a human head and shoulders, inviting a close, personal engagement that is both delightful and unsettling.

The small, meditative works in "Noise Antidote" invite viewers to slow down, enter a quiet space, and take a break from the noise. Rather than working from sketches or a fixed plan, she allows each composition to evolve organically.

For Sills, photography is a way to bear witness and find sustenance. In "Still," she invites the viewer to consider the power of stillness—both the stillness of the image and the stillness of a place.Through careful compositions, Sills centers human-made objects, juxtaposing them with vast skies, and draws out subtle colors in the land. These images encourage the viewer to stop, to be still, to revel in what we still have.

Join us tonight at Kingston Gallery from 5-8pm in celebration of our three new exhibitions, "Circulations," "Noise Anditote," and "Still!"

Linda Leslie Brown's "Circulations" invites a close, personal engagement that is both delightful and unsettling. This new body of work both recapitulates and deepens Brown’s earlier forms and obsessions, reflecting the continuity and evolution of her artistic practice.

The small, meditative works in Bonnie Sennott's "Noise Antidote" invite viewers to slow down, enter a quiet space, and take a break from the noise. A piece is complete when the accumulation of stitches, shapes, and colors achieves a sense of equilibrium. Equally important to the embroidery are the unworked, negative spaces, which contribute to the feeling of lightness and ease.

In "Still," Vaughn Sills explores the stillness both of the photograph itself—the way a moment is suspended in time—and of the land, which holds a quiet, steady beauty. Her photographs reflect a deep reverence for the land and for the rhythms of rural life, implying a connection to the steady work of farming and an enduring respect for the environment.

Now open! "Circulations" by Linda Leslie Brown explores the transformative exchanges between nature, objects, and the viewer’s creative perception. The works are rich with allusions to the body, while simultaneously evoking a new, transgenic nature—one where corporeal and mechanical entities merge and recombine, suggesting a world that is both fluid and uncertain.

Bonnie Sennott's works in "Noise Antidote" are created slowly, through a process of improvisation and discovery. They offer an antidote to the constant noise of social media, news, texts, and emails and provide a reprieve from the ongoing chatter of our busy minds.

In "Still," Vaughn Sills explores the stillness both of the photograph itself—the way a moment is suspended in time—and of the land, which holds a quiet, steady beauty. This is your last weekend to see "Over Days" by Nat Martin and "On the Cusp" by Diane Novetsky at Kingston Gallery!

Martin's work surrounds the everyday experience, focusing on small, found objects to create works that are both familiar and strange. He balances one foot in the everyday world and the other somewhere entirely different, creating works that are laden with humor and meaning.

Novetsky’s saturated color palette is influenced by Italian Renaissance painters who used high-key color and bold shapes to describe their subjects. Her forms bend, twist, and rotate, creating a sense of space that is both fluid and flat. Through this playful contradiction, she invites the viewer to explore the boundless possibilities of form and color.

Don't miss out on your last chance to see these fantastic shows! Kingston Gallery is open Wednesday - Sunday from 12 - 5pm.

Nat Martin's works in "Over Days" are witty, playful, yet laden with meaning. Artist and colleague Hilary Tolan observes "Everyday materials meet art materials and musings that conjure relationships; be they material or personal. Through the mundane Martin reflects on his relationship to his children within his routine of day to day; this life as an artist that is steeped in daily demands."

"Over Days" is on view at Kingston Gallery until March 30th, be sure to check it out!

Thank you to all of you who joined us last Saturday for an Artist Talk with Diane Novetsky and Marjorie Kaye! The artists discussed Novetsky's artistic journey through the exploration of color and form in her exhibition, "On the Cusp."

Novetsky's work centers around curvilinear forms—circles and spheres that serve as celestial bodies, sources of light, architectural fragments, and constellations. These shapes, both serpentine and biomorphic, evoke the female form, suggesting sensuality, while the circular forms represent the continuity of life and the cyclical nature of existence.

"On the Cusp" is on view at Kingston Gallery through March 30th. Visit us or head over to our website to learn more!

Congratulations to Nat Martin for his feature review in Artscope Magazine!

Isabel Barbi writes, "Nat Martin’s 'Over Days' exhibition invites the viewer to play a game of iSpy with new sculptures, prints and some photography, primarily completed within the last few years. Inspired by his daily life, knicks-knacks — and artists such Joseph Beuys and others of the modern and Fluxus movements of the 1960s and ‘70s — Martin reinvents recyclables and life’s little moments."

Announcing April exhibitions at Kingston Gallery!

In the Main Gallery, Linda Leslie Brown presents "Circulations," exploring the transformative exchanges between nature, objects, and the viewer’s creative perception. Humble in affect, Brown’s work deliberately turns away from overt gestures of mastery or polish. Instead, it speaks through a language of bending, breaking, and mending.

The Center Gallery hosts "Noise Antidote" by Bonnie Sennott. Providing a reprieve from the ongoing chatter of our busy minds, Sennott's small, meditative works invite viewers to slow down, enter a quiet space, and take a break from the noise.

In the Project Space is Vaughn Sill's "Still," a collection of photographs culled from years spent on Prince Edward Island. Her photographs reflect a deep reverence for the land and for the rhythms of rural life, implying a connection to the steady work of farming and an enduring respect for the environment.

These amazing exhibitions are on view from April 2nd to April 27th! Join us for an Opening Reception on Friday, April 4th from 5-8pm. Check out our website for more information!
