Today the studio is not open as I am away.

Yesterday I bought minuscule tubes of primary colors + white zinc and started a commission for… my mum of all people.

She’s a difficult client/artist to please🤔😳 what’s certain is that the reward and gratification will be proportionate to the level of frustration.

She has this way of coming around behind me when I paint and inserting suggestions, telling me how she would do it, how she would tackle certain areas that she’s not so keen on, how the purple at the bottom could more nuanced🤪🤪.

This still life is going to be a psychological process, a delicate balance between following and resisting and asserting.

Stay tuned.

« Spring» is on its week to Mumbai and it’s forever home. Who could have predicted that this painting would have such a destiny? I am envious🤩

Thank you for keeping the faith tjis summer through the storms and heat. 🙏

In process work.

I have to admit that I am a little lost with this piece.

I don’t have my typical guiding system of things I instinctively like or strongly dislike. Feeling a bit stuck with the values.

Where to start? What to change?

Thanks for inviting me to post my process over this past few weeks.

It’s been an interesting stretch at a slower pace.

A lot more looking and staring. You could say that I am a little stuck but it’s more that instead of being glued working on the canvas, I am glued to the different scenarios and possibilities that I imagine in my head. Usually it’s all played out on the canvas for the worst and best. So basically this week, a lot of staring, musing and dreaming!

Thrilled to announce that the Woodstock Gallery is now representing my work in Woodstock Vermont.

The surrounding meadows, the rolling hills, and the charming town were an absolute “coup de foudre”

The warmth welcome of literally everyone I crossed paths with made me feel so at home. Can’t wait to go back and visit B and G!

If you are looking for a weekend trip, consider the historical town of WoodstockVT, simply a gem just like the people there!🤩🤩🤩♥️

Thank you to the talented artist and friend Martha Wakefield for inviting me to post my work for the next 10 days and inviting another artist after that to do the same.

I’m excited to share my process some of the insights along the way.

Today, I figured the kink or the disconnect in this landscape I painted 10 months ago. It is reminiscent of the chain of dormant volcanoes at the center of France, in the Massif Central.

That section where the green arrow points of did not flow right into the other sections. It’s almost like the energy of the flow of the painting stopped there.
It did not bother studio visitors but for me, it always seemed a missed opportunity to do something cool. To me, the chi of the painting process is really about managing, highlighting, and enhancing transitions so the whole work thrived and blooms.

So here’s to figuring out these small details that bring the whole to the next level🤩🤩

The right rug can really change a space.
After months of looking, I settled on this high traffic rug to accommodate the flow of visitors;) the funny thing is that this “eye” or almond shape eye design is one of the signature features that unwittingly pops up in all my work. What a cool coincidence!

Open tomorrow for open studios #318, 12:30-4:00. Come by and check out the new wall at Studio 318 and leant every about Rocamadour, a 10th century Southern French Pilgrimage.

Tip of the day: tried the new Home Depot “luxury” paint Dynasty but had to do 2 coats. Benjamin Moore still rocks in terms of finish and coverage🤩

Happy Sunday! Play an optical game? 👉 there are 3 pictures
1. Which one do you like the best?
2. Is it the first one you saw?
3. How does the order in which we see possibilities affect our imagination and level of comfort in finding a new order?

Commission delivered yesterday. What a wonderful process this has been. The client was a dream to work with because they gave me all the samples of their fabrics, leather, metal finish and color chips—even the colorful pillowcases!
Back in December, the couple came into the studio several times and both loved the same painting. Unfortunately, the format was vertical and they had a space above a coach that warranted a square or horizontal format. So I used the vertical painting « Summer Vibes » as as an inspiration to create this new work «Noe’s Arc”. The small boat is the ultimate refuge and floats with ease over the tumultuous seas.

Shhh 🤫 commission in process🤩

During a commission:
1) as an artist, do you show your work at different stages and you are ready to lose your mind with anticipation and stress when there’s the final reveal?
2) as an art collector, do you want to see your commissioned work half way through to be reassures or are you ready to let go and be surprised at the end?
