We had a wonderful Quilting Program presented by Kim Lindley this Saturday!

She shared how she found her love of quilting and the new techniques she has learned. Also on display were the many projects that are in the making!

We had a great turn out!

Stop by the museum and see all of the beautiful quilts before they are taken down!! You have until next Wednesday, 10/28!!

Guess what came in today!!!!

We had to order our quilt show ribbons from a new vendor this year. Our old vendor had ordering requirements that we couldn't meet. It took some time to find a vendor that had the quality ribbons that our winners deserve. So, our ribbons took a little bit longer than usual to come in.

The winners now have ribbons on their quilts! They are ready to view!! There will be pictures posted tomorrow of the quilts with their ribbons.

We are so proud of each and every quilt that was in this year's show!!! You still have time to see them...

We will be hosting a quilt program by Kim Lindley tomorrow (Saturday 10/17) at 2:00 pm.

🎉 Happy 100th birthday Borger!! 🎉

To celebrate this AWESOME event, we are joining in with the City of Borger's Centennial Boomtober Celebration!!

📍 Starting Friday, October 9th and running through the month of October (possibly the first week of November if we see a demand for it) we will showcase From Boomtown to Centennial: An Archival Show & Tell. 📍

We have brought out items from the archives that we think the public will enjoy! The upstairs galleries have several items waiting for you to come and see them! The downstairs galleries are still hosting the quilt show. Be sure to check that out too!! (And vote for your favorite quilt of course! 😉)

We hope to see you downtown during this special time!

📍 Friday October the 9th the Museum will be open from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm! 📍

One more quilt to show out of the archive!! This will be the last one for this year's quilt show...

#43 1976 Presidential Quilt ( 😮 This quilt is 50 years old!!)

This is the information we have on it:
Oda Smith and her friends at the Leisure Lodge Nursing Home, created, made, and embroidered this quilt by hand. It was hand quilted by Bernice Bergan and Fae Graves. Our nation’s 200th year! The museum was also started as a bicentennial project. This is a great learning quilt for kids and follows in that tradition. It has every president from George Washington to Gerald Ford and some of the fifty blocks have historic events. It was made in 1976 for the bicentennial year of the United States. Oda Smith was 93 years young!!

The hand embroidery on this quilt is wonderful for a 93 year old!! Come and see for yourself!!!
