"The three large paintings in this show are scenes that I have looked at and thought about for many years.

Dr. John's Farm is right in the middle of Nampa behind our friend's house. I've painted the farm a few times from different vantage points. I wanted to capture the feeling of a hidden place, forgotten, deserted.

Spring River and March River are scenes of the Boise as seen from Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell. As I was planning these pieces they got larger and larger to create the feeling of actually being there kind of hovering over the scene.

I am always on the lookout for paintings. The shadow of a tree on a wall, the way light falls on a distant hill is endlessly fascinating and challenging to create with paint." -- Geoffrey Krueger

"Leaning heavily on the contrast between velvety, light absorbent charcoal and bright greens, golds, and pinks, these paintings explore the burst of energy ushered in by spring. While the materials and techniques used in all these works are similar, the locations span from British Columbia to New Mexico to New Zealand." -- Rachel Teannalach

I spend a lot of time in my studio staring at objects, observing the quiet drama of light and shade. Sometimes, I start to see unusual things: objects begin to radiate their own light, not just reflect it; waves of arbitrary color float through and among the objects; material forms begin to dissolve, as the painting’s surface texture interacts with illusions of form. Something mysterious begins to happen. The result is this series of small still life paintings, in which observation blends with invention.
