Were you able to experience the live performance that took place during the opening reception for our current exhibition Continuum? In this extended performance, the art piece, Cloak of Enshrouded Onslaught was worn. This performance entailed the performer quietly and yet, strategically interacting with its environment and the audience. This interaction displayed mimicry similarly to that of the decorator crab, to assimilate behaviors of concealment and revelation within one’s methods for survival.

On 9/4, students from AD Henderson University School’s Archaeology SPEC Class had the opportunity to tour the Art History Teaching Lab— a place very few college students (let alone elementary school students) get to visit! During their trip, museum educators introduced them to artifacts from our permanent collection, including masks made by the Abelam People of Papua New Guinea.

Continuum stands as a homage to Angela DiCosola, honoring her distinguished and enduring contributions as both an artist and a professor of ceramics at Florida Atlantic University. Across decades of teaching, mentorship, and creative practice, DiCosola has shaped not only objects of remarkable material sensitivity, but generations of artists whose voices now resonate throughout the contemporary art world.

This exhibition ultimately proposes that artistic legacy is not measured by repetition, but by transformation. Through these works, lineage becomes a living process—one in which ideas, materials, and ways of seeing are continually reimagined, ensuring that DiCosola's influence endures not as a fixed inheritance, but as an ever-evolving conversation.
