We asked a Board member what were her favorite quotes from Cathy Horner's new book, Growing Up in Boalsburg: Voices of the 1950's. Here's what she chose:
"I remember Dr Light making house calls. He took trade often for payment. He would take quince apples off our tree for payment."
"Everyone had dog houses back then, no one kept their dogs indoors. One Halloween, the kids switched all the dogs in their dog houses. People woke up and they had someone else's dog in their yard. It was harmless and funny."
-Becky McKinstry
"I remember one Halloween; we only had one rubber mask among our gang. We kept switching the mask and taking turns so we could get popcorn balls from Mrs. Duffy."
-Dick Lassman
Don't forget to join us at the museum for a book signing by Cathy on Sunday, August 30, 2026 from 1-3pm.
