Johnson Cabin Museum Celebrating 170 years of history as a Pioneer Cabin and its 75th Anniversary as a Museum in Blue Springs City Park.

In 1861 we hear of James "Grandpa" Hollingsworth, who was superintendent of a very successful Sunday School, carried on in a small log cabin down near Blue Springs. Hollingsworth and his family had come from England; lived briefly in Boston and Wisconsin; then decided to make Nebraska their home. They came in a covered wagon, driving one ox and one horse. It was a hard trip and two of their children became seriously ill and died on the way. In the meantime, the Johnsons had built another home on their farm. The Hollingsworth's moved into the cabin vacated by the Johnsons. This is the same well preserved cabin, relocated and now can be seen in the Blue Spring City Park. This same cabin was used in 1857 as the "Methodist parsonage" and later in 1861 as the Methodist Sunday School and meeting place.
