Want to capture the evergreens and rolling mountains sprinkled with flowers and pressed against a blue sky to create your own beautiful pastel landscape? Join us on September 27, 2026, for “The Pastel Landscape,” a workshop with instructor Suzanne DesLauriers. Students will paint an underpainting to serve as the backdrop for the piece. Join us for an Opening Reception on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, from at 5:00-7:00 PM at The Art Center as we celebrate artist Ann Litrel and her traveling exhibition Georgia Natural Wonders – A Journey from Marshlands to Mountains in our Richard Low Evans Gallery! In our John and Evelyn Branch Gallery, The Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association welcomes our 4th Quarter Artists in Residence Laura C. Martin and Sharon Coogle. Bringing together botanical art, natural history, calligraphy, and the traditions of the handmade book, this exhibition explores the ways nature can be observed, interpreted, and preserved through both image and language. The Opening Reception is free and open to the public, featuring light hors d’oeuvres, a wine bar, beautiful artwork, and more! In this two-day workshop, students will explore the fundamentals of eco-printing using seasonal leaves, natural fibers, moisture, pressure, heat, and time.
