Adirondack Experience, The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake Overlooking Blue Mountain Lake, ADKX immerses visitors in the beauty, history, and culture of the Adirondacks. Closed for the 2026 season.

Research library, curatorial department, and offices are open year-round by appointment. Come visit us in the heart of the Adirondacks for a truly unique experience. With more than 20 buildings nestled across 120 acres overlooking Blue Mountain Lake, our open-air campus offers everyone something to do. Step into the rich history of this region as you explore the museum, row an authentic guideboat, break up a logjam, climb a classic ADK fire tower, or enjoy a family-friendly hike to Minnow Pond. New for this season is the opening of Natural Beauty – The Art of Rustic Furniture an exhibition that features rustic furniture from around the world and rarely seen private collections! Enjoy a few hours or the entire day as you discover unexpected stories of the Adirondacks past and present.

Thank you to all of our members and guests for coming to visit this year and for helping to make 2026 another great season at the ADKX!

Mark your calendars! Join us at the ADKX for our LumberDAX Breakfast, Sunday, October 11th, from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM! Step back to the days of lumber camps and river drives with hearty, logging-inspired breakfast specials served all day at the Lake View Café.

Stay a while and enjoy live music by Adirondack folk musicians Josh and Ashley Clevenstine from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM and again from 1:00-2:00 PM.

Calling all young anglers! The Kids' Fishing Derby is back as part of this year's FallFest activities. Kids 14 and under are invited to sign up for a 30-minute time slot to fish for trout in our campus pond.

Important Fishing Derby Details:
Ages 14 & under only
30-minute time slots throughout the day
All equipment and bait provided
Catch-and-keep (a staffed cleaning station will be provided)
Day-of registration and signed waivers are required on site. Slots fill up fast, so be sure to arrive early to secure your child's spot!
