Stoddard County Historical Society Discover our past with us! Meetings begin at 6:00 p.m. with a short presentation on a historical topic. It is open to the public and admission is free.

Dedicated to the preservation of artifacts relating to the history of Stoddard County, Missouri, the Stoddard County Historical Society invites you to our free monthly history programs at the Stars and Stripes Museum. The Stoddard County Historical Society hosts monthly meetings at the Stars and Stripes Museum/Library on the third Thursday of the month.

Join us for “Stars and Stripes at a Crossroads: A Conversation on Editorial Independence,” featuring Max D. Lederer, Jr., Capt. William Urban, Cindy Elmore, and Iraq veteran Lucas Green. Mark Horvit of the Missouri School of Journalism will moderate.

Saturday, November 7 • 1:30 p.m.

Doors open at 1 p.m.

We pressed apples, made apple butter, shared sweet treats, and welcomed many visitors to our Old-Fashioned Fall Festival!

The Stoddard County Historical Society and the Stars and Stripes National Museum and Library thank everyone who joined us. It was wonderful to see folks visiting, enjoying the activities, and spending time together.

Thank you to Greg Wolk for sharing his knowledge of John C. Frémont and his 100 days as Commander of the West! Your presentation brought an important chapter of Civil War history to life and gave us a closer look at Frémont’s brief but consequential command.
