With our open house season starting soon this seems like a good time to post a little about donations and how they’re used. For more detailed information you really should go to our actual website https://bmrr.org.
The main methods of donation are cash and model railroad equipment. We generally then sell the equipment at various model railroad shows. It’s just a natural fundraising activity given what we are. Since we are a non profit 501c(3) organization, donations are tax deductible. So when you see us at shows we are fundraising based on the generosity of other model railroaders and their families. And it’s very much appreciated. It allows us to make sure we can have open houses and arranged tours. We use the money for exactly what you expect us to use it for. We pay our bills. As you might imagine, our electric bill can be eye watering at times. Your donations of money and equipment have helped us actually buy our building, which means we should be able to stay around for many more years to come.
So, when you come to our open houses we appreciate your generosity. You are never required to donate to enjoy viewing our layout. If you have donations, especially of equipment, please contact us, but not here on Facebook. Please go to our website where we have links to contact us. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks at our September open house.
Current BMRC Activity BMRC’s open house season for 2025-26 is now over. The 2026-27 season will begin in September. We hope to see you then.
