Hey there, it’s !

If you’ve ever driven through Melrose, Wisconsin, you may have spotted this tribute to “The O’Hearns of Jackson County” bringing local history to life right on Main Street!

This mural tells the story of a family that journeyed from Ireland in the 1800s in search of a better life, eventually settling in Wisconsin and becoming deeply rooted in the community. From farming the land to running businesses like the O’Hearn Produce Co. and a Ford garage, their legacy spans five generations.

It also highlights values that shaped the family and the community around them: creativity, openness to experiences, compassion, curiosity and imagination

Behind every small town storefront or street sign, there’s a story worth telling and to get inspired by.

Happy ! Take a look at the freshly refreshed Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Church history mural.

This piece tells the story of three widows: Goro Nichols, Hage Lunden, and Turid Tytte Grav, who left Yorkville in 1854 after losing their husbands to hardship and illness. Together, with their 18 children, they journeyed by ox team and arrived in Trempealeau Valley to start over.

By 1857, a congregation had formed. Early services were held in a barn before the church was completed in 1867. Inside, a hand-carved Norwegian altar reflects their heritage, while even the bell tower holds a bit of legend with initials said to be from Jesse James, tied to the aftermath of the Northfield bank robbery.

We’re excited to share that the Banner Journal recently featured the upcoming refurbishment of the Hoffman Construction mural!

Susan is thrilled to partner with the Hoffman family to restore the Water Street mural in downtown Black River Falls, pictured here taking things to the next level (literally) as she works from the ladder. Here's to taking local history to new heights with one rung at a time.

🎉 Announcing our FIRST-EVER Painting Experiences at Sampson Art Gallery! 🎉

If getting creative was one of your New Year's resolutions, we've got you covered with two hands-on painting events:

🌸 Boards, Blooms & Brushes: 12-3PM on Saturday, March 21st

Create custom art on a wooden board using indoor/outdoor paint perfect for your garden, a welcome sign, or a unique conversation piece!

Choose from multiple board sizes and shapes, and our artists will help with lettering and finishing touches.

🐾 Paint Your Pet: 12-3PM on Saturday, April 25th

Bring a photo of your beloved pet and transform it into a hand-painted keepsake you’ll treasure forever.

Plus: a portion of registration funds from this event will be donated to the Jackson County Animal Shelter.

🖌️ What to Know

✔️ Limited to 30 participants per experience
✔️ All skill levels welcome
✔️ Professional artists on hand to guide every step
✔️ $40 per person covers materials, meal & refreshments

📍 Both events take place upstairs at Sampson Art Gallery
